Dr. Banks has been involved in nursing education for 25 years.   Prior to coming to WSSU in 2008, she was an Associate Professor of Nursing and Women’s Studies at the University of Missouri for 12 years.   She also worked as an instructor at Seattle Community College and in the RN to BSN completion program at the University of Washington-Tacoma.

Research Interests

Development of culturally and contextually consistent strategies for promoting health in women is the foci of Dr. Banks’ scholarship.  She is particularly interested in the use of storytelling as a data collection method, intervention strategy and tool for promoting health equity.
