Dr. Roberts is an Associate Professor in the Division of Nursing. She joined WSSU faculty in 2003. She is a certified family nurse practitioner and nurse educator.  Primarily, she teaches family nurse practitioner students.  She continues to practice as a family nurse practitioner in family medicine. Her clinical interests are hypertension and diabetes control. Dr. Roberts’ earned her PhD in Family Nursing from Hampton University in 2007. She received her MSN and BSN from Howard University and Winston-Salem State University, respectively. Her research interest is interventions to reduce cardiovascular disease in African Americans.

Research Interests

Dr. Roberts’ research focuses on community-based interventions for hypertension control in African Americans. Her work with community-based interventions has led to using the community-based participatory research approach to reduce cardiovascular risk factors in the African American community in Guilford County. Dr. Roberts’ has partnered with a community advisory board to design and pilot an intervention to address lifestyle modifications with prediabetics.
